Friday Finale: DITCHED

This week on Elsewhere, we did our part in spreading the word about Robin Mellom's debut YA novel, DITCHED...

On Monday...
We attempted to cause some Mayhem by recommending DITCHED to someone in a convenience store, but fortunately for you, I was too chicken! So I offered an alternative challenge for you guys to recommend DITCHED to an adult figure and I hope some of you took me up on that! Remember, if you take the challenge, you're automatically entered to win The Book of the Week Prize Pack. Next time, Loves.

On Tuesday...
We went to Twitter and... well, in truth, I talked to myself. But it was cool because Robin and her agent, Jill Corcoran, stopped by. Together, we decided to use the hashtag #DITCHED in order to start and keep a conversation about the book going, so if you ever get around to reading it, tweet #DITCHED to me. I'd be more than happy to discuss the book with you!

On Wednesday...
I told the embarrassing story of my first "date." If you haven't read it yet, save yourself. I don't know why I was so honest and I have no idea why I didn't just do the creative challenge, instead. Yes, Wanderers. There were two challenges and one was to write a creative story about a girl who loses her memory, the other to write a non-fiction about a date that went horribly wrong. And I chose the latter route. I'm obviously crazy-pants.

On Thursday...
I searched my internets again in order to find reviews about DITCHED that might do a better job persuading you to read it than I did. And I found EIGHT POSITIVE REVIEWS. EIGHT!!! From all over the place, you guys! If that's not saying, "You should probably read this book, ya'll," then I don't know what is. I mean, you read my review where I expressed both my qualms and likes about the story, but despite all my nit-picky-ness, I, like these other reviewers, enjoyed the story immensely. It was a great, quick read and look! Kirkus Reviews liked it so maybe you will too. :]

And now it's Friday!
But there are still so many ways we can continue to spread the love and word about the books that we love and adore by...

1. Taking up the Mayhem Challenge anyway! Sure the contest is closed but wouldn't it be awesome to actually work up the courage to recommend this book to a random convenient store shopper?!

2. Join me tonight at 6 PM PST over at Livestream to talk about DITCHED! Even if you haven't read it, you can ask me what I liked or didn't like about it. You can also talk to me about other books like Ally Carter's CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO SPY... You know you want to! Next month we're starting out with OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF TIME so I hope you've got your copy already! Get your Gallagher Girl on!

3. Recommend books to your friends AND to me! Next month, I want to offer a variety of books for you guys to read so I have two additional "challenges" going on in addition to the Book of the Week. Maybe later tonight, I'll explain more about that, but I want to include a new challenge to replace Wednesday Writes. There are four weeks this month so I need four book recommendations from you guys. So let's hear them! Before I post the calendar tomorrow at 3 o'clock my time! :) This month, I'm looking for CLASSICS, GENRE BENDERS, and/ or CLASSIC RETELLINGS. Click on each for an example of a book in that particular genre if you're not sure what they are. These are examples of books I personally would like to read, so if you read them and liked them, recommend them!

So si, mon amies. The second week is coming to an end! But don't fret! Next week, we'll be talking about David Nicholl's #1 Bestselling Novel, ONE DAY, and you can find the Wednesday Writes challenges for this upcoming week here. Submissions are going to be accepted starting now all the way through Sunday. And if you're still wondering if you should read ONE DAY, the answer is you should. It's not too graphic so I'd say if you're a mature reader, it shouldn't bother you too much. My review is going up this Sunday so stay posted, okay!

See you guys later! At 6 my time, remember?

Lots of love,
Deserae
P.S. Don't forget to check out the Finale going on at Home, too!
